How do I get curry stains out of silk?
I spilled curry on a silk jumper and I want to get it out without ruining the top
Answers:
Silk is quite a strong fabric but a lot of it is not well dyed. It can be washed and probably the best start is a soak in warm water with a mild detergent. that does not work one of the proprietary stain removers for silk can be tried but test it on a part of the garment that will not be seen first
wash it with milk
weel as i occaisonaaly get curry on my turban the best thing i have found to work is dousing the curry spot with petrol and singeing the curry spot off.alwys works 4 me
Curry can be very dificult because the oil and spices can dye the material. Some supermarkets sell special "dry cleaning" stain removers for silk. you could try those.
give for dry cleaning
Yup, nightmare. Its the tumeric that does it, just stains everything it touches. I'll be watching this space for a useful answer to a good question!
with difficulty
Try wetting the stain area with water and then using your bar of bathing soap (say Lux, Palmolive etc) clean away the stain by slowly rubbing it with the soap lather .
soak it first in ACE diluted with water. then wash as normal.
Try baby wipes. I'm serious. they work for most types of stains although I admit I have never tried curry stains. Give it a try it can't hurt.
Realistic answer, buy a new jumper and be more careful next time.
Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your silk! I had the same thing happen on my jeans from curry! I surfed the net like a mad woman, but nothing worked. I finally tried the colorox bleach pen. It took the stain right out!
I paid about $4.50 for mine, but I was surfing the freebies today and I saw a link to get one for free!
