American sizes?

I'd like to buy a jeans on the internet, but haven't got a clue which american size I am. In the UK I am a jeans size 16.

Answers:
Most of the sites you buy the jeans from have size charts. Look at those to determine your size. Different brands and different styles may mean that you need a different size.
then your size in America would be a 12
If you can tell us how tall you are and how much you weigh, it would help.
I think American sizes are two even numbered sizes down. So if you're a UK 16, you'd wear an American 12.

I recently had visitors from Belfast, Ireland who bought clothes in the States and that's what they did.
I honestly don't know what a 16 is in the UK. Some web sites will have a way to figure out the difference. You could also try to look up a size chart with both listed on-line.
For males and I assume female jeans as well, they use inches of the waist and length of legs to determine size. If you can measure using inches then you should be able to find your size.
maybe u should buy cheap 16 jeans and see if they r too tight or too big and play with #s
14!
It's definitely a size 12, but bear in mind that a lot of sizes come up larger in the US, especially for cheaper clothes, so you might want to try a 10 too. Plus the cuts are generally different - make sure the place you're buying from has a good return policy!
