Fashion Labels?

Okay, so I love Fashion, but I'm pretty much an ameateur, I've hardly ever read Vogue. How can I brush up? I want to know what all these designer labels stand for and about them, and become something of a pro.

Answers:
The best labels represent good quality fabric. Then comes cut, color and style. I see lots of people wearing style but not quality of fabric.
Banana Republic is a good example of that.
GAP has good style but not necessarily good fabric or cut.
The better labels have all three: Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Polo, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Liz Clairborne, Jones of New York, and Hilfiger.
The problem is the exorbitant price so you need to get to discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls' or Outlet Stores and buy them end of season on sale. You have to love the hunt. Good stuff never goes out of style and are considered "investment" clothes that never wear out. There are plenty other good labels but I can't think of more at the moment. Good hunting!
Try some magazines like Lucky and In Style and you will alot of trends inspired by designers. My personal favorite designers are Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Betsey Johnson. I like simple clean lines with funky accessories.

if you are looking for clothes for yourself, just find what colours shapes and fabrics suit you. you dont need to spend a fortune on designer gear to look good!

if its the actual styles that some people use etc, you can find books on art and fashion in your libary, or online. try the stuff for fashion design students for a level type or early college/university. that should give you a basic idea.
Buy The Bluffers Guide to Fashion that should do the trick!!
I bought the bluffers guide to antiques a few years ago and now i'm a regular little "Lovejoy" while at the same time knowing absolutely bugger all about antiques!
Good Luck.
WHY? just buy what you like and what suits! forget the label!
Watch "the devil wears prada"
Take a stroll around Harrods or Harvey Nicks. That will give you a feel for all the designer brands and costs.
