What kind of suits were worn by 1930's-40's Mafia members, and where can they be found?
What kind of suits was it that was worn by stereotypical Mafia members (or at least what is commonly assumed they wore) and where would you find such clothing in the UK? Not completely sure what kind of suits it was, and what hats they tend to accessorise themselves with. Is there a mainstream shop that they can be bought in, or a specialised place that could provide such suits?

most of the old pictures I've seen had either a double breasted or a 3 piece which includes a vest.
They were known as Zoot suits and they wore Fedoras on their head.
A tailor could custom make you the suit. Hats are still available from Stetson.
I believe they were called "Zoot" Suits, but I have no idea why or where you might get them.

Actually "zoot suits" were worn by mexicans/latinos first during the 40's/50's. Mafia members would have worn suits and ties mostly depending on their "level" or status. Double breasted suits were very popular and 3 pc suits(with vests) also, Hats or fedora's would have been worn with the suits. White shirts too. They would have worn "wing tip" shoes.
