Why do people comment when you have had your hair cut?

I noticed this when i had my hair cut back from shoulder length to about 1 inch all over and everybody i met said "Wow youve had your hair cut" do these people think you havent your hair has been cut?

Answers:
They are being observant and caring. It is usually meant as a compliment, so take it that way and chill.

Chow!!
They just want to show how wonderfully observant they are. So tiresome..
they do it to piss you off
Usually it's a compliment. Just say, yes, thanks.
They are complimenting you on this because they believe that it looks good and you should keep it this way.
Often, yes they arent very clever and think you may have forgotten!

Really though, you get your hair cut to look nice, and its nice to have people notice and appreciate the time and effort that you went to to look nice. So people say, 'your new haircut looks nice'. If it doesnt look nice, they still want to appreciate your effort, but dont want to lie, so instead of saying 'your hair looks crap' they say 'you've had your hair cut!' instead, so as not to hurt your feelings.

Maybe.. or maybe they are just thick.
don't get the last part of the question, but when you alter your image people notice, enjoy it! it's good they comment instead of ignoring it
i think they're just trying to say they noticed it.so that person with a haircut knows that they either hate it or love it!(and sometimes it does get annoying that happens to me too)when someone tells me i got a haircut,it makes me feel like people don't just see through me and that they know something's changed
It's human nature
idk its like when you ask people whats up you know there just gonna say not much or something like that i guess its just manners or something but i'd rather have them complement my new look
People see you a certain way for a while, get use to the way you look, then when you change, it takes time to re-adjust
Perhaps they feel that you would like them to notice and they are trying to give you a compliment?

Isn't that nice?
I usually do it to show I noticed or cared cause sometimes womyn get mad when it hasn't been noticed or they feel as no one cared enough to tell them or comment on it. I never thought of it as bothersome.
they want you to know how good you look,i would like people to comment on me at least i know they care, better than not saying anything
It's just that the person has noticed a change. Change is something that humans ALWAYS notice. It's not a bad thing. Actually, you should take it as a compliment. Since they actually noticed it, that means they pay attention to you.
Because you don't realise it but it changes your appearance and people that know you well will notice something different and comment on it. We all get it, don't worry about it!
yeah, or they'll say "have you cut your hair?" Like, no! the hairdresser did it! Duh! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
probably coz you had a pretty drastic cut and it was a bit of a shock for people to see you with short hair when they are used to you with longer hair.
when people say that to me, I say no .. i woke up this morning and my hair was gone. LOL
What do you expect if your hair was shoulder length and now it is just one inch all over? It's a bit of a change isn't it. Is the wow comment out of shock or cos they like it? I think as a female you really need a certain shaped face to carry off really short hair. Anyway the only really important thing is if you like it. just take it as a compliment that they notice you
because when someone has had their hair cut it is always straighter and it looks smarter at the bottom, it is a compliment
no they want to let u no that theyve noticed, that they care about wot u do. man I no so many people hu get upset if no-one notices wen they change there hair.
