How to soften leather?
i have got a leather jacket but it is really stiff any ideas how to soften it please
Answers:
Rub it with Shea Butter, they sell it in most leather stores.
wear it everywhere you go and in bed
or you can keep buffing with leather polish or oil
where you brought the leather from should have given you leather conditioner- it will ease with wear but you need to condition it like moisturiser on your body
tie it to the end of your car.
Originally leather was softened by chewing it . so if you have any teething children in the neighborhood, you may be able to help each other. :<)
"Tanners" used to be employed to soften leather in, I think, the middle ages (no doubt someone will correct me!) The method employed? Rubbing dog excrement into it! That's as much as I learned in that lesson before falling asleep so I have no idea how you neutralise the smell!
Lexol conditioner will help along with wearing it. If you have a friend that rides a motor cyle lend it to them to wear for a month, I found that wearing it in the wind and heat also seems to make the leather more supple, but definetly condition it too or it'll crack on you!
Wear it everyday
go to a cobbler shop ask for saddle soap very good for softing leather i used it before on my jacket
