Dr Atkins created the Atkins diet. His theory was that if you eat nothing but protean you will start to use the energy stored in your body (carbohydrate) i.e. you’d burn fat and lose weight.

The problem is you need a balanced diet and this is very unhealthy. Just eat fresh food when your hungry and get lots of exercise that the simplest and easiest way to lose weight!

No it means you eat foods that severely limit your intake of carbohydrates. It is unhealthy and as soon as you re-introduct carbs to your diet you will more than likely gain the weight back.
The Atkins diet is a high protein/ low carbohydrate diet ( means choosing what you eat ). It might involve supplements, but, it is not a pill that you can take and eat whatever you like.

its not a pill - its a diet where you eat hardly any carbohydrates or sugar. my husband did it a while ago and lost three stone in the first couple of months. you have to be very careful through as people do say that it is not all that good for you. the first two weeks are the hardest. if you look on the internet you can get more of an idea about it. its an idea to buy a book on it - we have got "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution". its a pretty good.

My daughter was on this diet and it is a fast fix diet, she did lose weight. When she went off the diet she began to get fatty deposits in her thighs..but the Most frightening thing was, her cholesterol went way over 200 and this is not good for your heart. I would NOT recommend this diet to anyone. It is unhealthy, not to mention very expensive! Try nutri-system diet plan or just a sensible balanced diet along with daily exercise and you will be fine. Atkins diet is a low carbohydrates diet. You eat mostly meats, cheeses (Not all cheeses) eggs, and take in very few carbs. It's not pleasant, but you lose weight really fast! I mean you get full because you can eat meat and eggs and all, but eating that stuff all the time is a bit nasty! You can also drink diet soda, water, and stuff like Crystal Light.
I do it when I want to lose a few pounds quickly! I put on ten pounds last winter, so in April I started the Adkins diet, and I was able to lose 15 pounds in under three weeks. I know it sounds like it's not possible, especially since you can stay full, but I did it, and I was back in my bikini this Summer!
The South beach diet is a lot like Atkins, only it allows you to have more carbs. Both diets are pretty big amongst celebrities that want to take off weight fast.

NO. It is a low carb style of living, It worked for me I loose more than 150 kilos. Almost 10 years ago. And I still haven't gained the weight again!
