My friends' hair is going grey- how can she treat it without using hair dye?

There is really no way to stop mother nature and the aging process. But there are some healthy habits which can help slow it down.
get plenty of rest. don't smoke. eat right, eat healthy. meditate and exercise (this helps develop healthy way to reduce stress).
and it is okay to consider a hair color( I use one). If you want to color grey but stay natural, with a minimum of hassle, expense, and upkeep, try a hair color shampoo, not a permanent hair coloring kit. Pick the color that is closest to your natural shade, so you don't have to worry about your roots growing out. The shampoo colors come in many different shades, are available in grocery and drug stores, are cheaper than hair coloring kits (usually), and are not permanent, lasting about 6 hair washings.
Sorry, but the forces of nature are against you. LOL and hopes this helps a little.
EAT healthy and dont take any tension
eat right , eat plenty .

oh , and i would like to suggest a herbal Indian remedy called ' henna ' it's a leaf extract which turns white hair into red-brown colour . just run along to any Indian store near your place and ask for ' henna ' its pronounced as ' henna ' ( he ( as in the 'hea' part of 'head' and 'na' 'NASA' ) trust me girl it really works , but you get a herbal kinda' smell from your hair later .
you have to tell me what color her hair is so I can tell you what kind of a rinse to use.
The only thing that I can think of is to eat healthy but they do sell shampoo that cover gray hair
The hair that is already gray can not be treated. Gray hair is hair that has lost its pigment. At 16, her gray hair can be attributed to genetics, stress or diet, as the other posters had mentioned. She should probably see her pediatrician if this is a major concern for her.
Perhaps a blonde henna rinse--Henna is a natural product and the blonde shade can even out the grey without harsh reddish tones.
"HENNA" it's very nutritous for the hair and it covers the gray hair, nut she shouldn't use a dye after "HENNA"..
Their are several natural colors for "HENNA".
deopending on what colour hair she has she should use wellas red, brown or blonde brightening shampoos and conditioners!
