Why does your hair get greasy at roots?? and dry ends??
My hair gets greasy really quickly at the roots but is really dry at the ends. What is the best shamp/cond?? as the ends do need conditioning.

Wonderful question - I'm not exactly sure why it does that; but mine does the same thing. Right now I'm on Pantene Pro-V and I love it!! Experiment with different shampoos/conditioners to find out what works with your hair. When you use conditioner - make sure to only apply it to the bottom of your hair- it shouldn't be massaged into your scalp like a shampoo. A conditioner just adds a healthy grease into your hair to give it shine and smoothness; so it could just be a conditioner issue.
well that means you should probably cut it, but if you like the cut try herbal essences (the drama clean or degunkifying kinds) and really scrub the roots and only condition the ends
I don't agree that it needs cutting if your colour is growing out then yes you will notice a difference but probably a good shampoo for normal to greasy hair try not to fiddle too much with after styling as this encourages the gland to make it more dirty again.
As soon as your hair has grown away from the root, it dies. That's why it can become dry. Your scalp produces oil constantly, to care for your hair. Sometimes it produces more than usual, especially if you are constantly rubbing your head, as this stimulates the oil gland. Therefor causing it to make your hair greasy!
Sebacious glands in your scalp cause oiliness at the roots, It's like having a T.zone on your face. Try Dove products they are the best, in between shampoos if you don't want to wash hair everyday, try a dry shampoo or talc on your roots, makes hair a bit flyaway mind. Or you could get a short style, problem doesn't seem as bad with short hair for some reason. x
this happens when either you're not washing you're hair good or you have lice or you spilled something in it
The dry hair NEEDs conditioning the oily doesn't. Hair is dead, it doesn't grow except in the root and pushes out longer. The oil is from your head. Unfortunately you are in the zone of what you want versus what you need. "Healthy" hair isn't what people or the products we use are after, everyone wants "good looking", poofy, etc hair. I would talk to a hair specialist..and tell them what you want to look like in the END. Many think "greasy" hair is bad, when in fact it's probably healthier in truth then their over-dried and curled - permed and poofy hair. It's all what you want versus what you need.
its normal as the hair root is the area where the oil is produced. the best thing to do it to use shampoo for oily hair (any type that you prefer) but also the way that you wash it does make a big differnece. you need to apply the shampoo only to the roots and not to the ends, then rubb it in and wash, repeat if needed, then apply conditoner to the ends and not the roots, this way you will wash the oil at the roots but not too much shampoo to the ends. also regular treatments will help to get the ends to get mositurised. things like olive oil you can apply then put hair up and cover with a plastic bag and leave for 2 hours, then wash probely with shampoo and conditioner, this will help to give some softness to the entire hair and also help to thickn the hair. it needs to be done on monthly basis for few months to see good effects. hope that was useful
the sebum glands in your head produce grease( sebum ). some are more active in people than others, you need a balancing shampoo for greasy roots and dry ends, the supermarkets sell these, and just run conditioner through the ends. the ends are always dryer because they are older and have to put up with day to day wear and tear, even the weather damages your hair, the further down the hair, the drier it is because it is older, hope this helps!
Remember you scalp secretes an oil called sebum, this makes your hair appear greasier than it is anyway. A good deep cleansing shamppoo such as Paul Mitchell Shampoo 3 will help remove the grease, followed by a good treatment conditioner applied to the ends only such as L'anza Detangler or L'anza Trauma treatment will rectify this problem. Remember regular cuts and protective sprays when straightening too. Hope this helps :)
the dry ends is often a result of the oily scalp. try eradicating your oily scalp and that will improve the overall condition of your ends.
