How do you get old permanent hair dye out of your hair without bleaching it?
The last time I dyed it was about six months ago. My roots are back to the natural colour (which for the first time in my life I like), but the rest has gone from the original light blonde hue to a trashy orangey yellow that doesn't seem like it will ever wash out. Can I get the mass of my hair back to its natural colour somehow?

Hot oil treatments are known to cause permanent dye to fade. It may well take several treatments to make a difference. Warm some olive oil a bit. Check with your finger that it is comfortably warm but not scalding hot. Apply to the hair. Wrap in an old towel and leave for at least a couple of hours - but it can stay on all day or night.
Remove the oil by first applying shampoo, then washing as usual. If you wet the hair first then it is harder to get all the oil out. This should also leave you with noticeably softer hair. You may add a drop of essential oil of your choice to the olive oil for the scent.
The oil slips under the cuticle of the hair and loosens the dye.
As I said before, this may need repeated treatments to make a difference but it is safe and will not hurt the hair - rather it is a conditioner.
I have also heard it said that cider vinegar and water (equal amounts of each) will leach dye from hair. You leave it on for a while. But I have never tried this
I hope this helps.
a hairdresser can strip the colour out with modulat or something similar, but it takes a while and dries your hair out something rotten, there are some good dyes around that will lighten up to 4-5 shades without actually bleaching the hair. good luck.
you can get the color stripped, but its kind of expensive and extrememly drying to your hair.
does the term permanent mean anything to you?
rub your nails in 1 hand against the nails in your other hand (excluding your thumbs) and that will bring your natural hair colour back. I know it sounds stupid BUT IT REALLY DOES WORK!! It will also get rid of grey hairs. Do that 5 mins in the morning and 5 mins in the evenings. i know you'll read this and think it's all a load of rubbish but there's no harm in trying it. Plus it wont work instantly it'll take about 7 months, I know it's a long time but it's the best you can do without bleaching your hair back to it's natural colour! TRUST ME IT WILL WORK!
you cant, its permanent..u can dye it a diff. color tho.
There is no way. Even "stripping" color out of the hair involves bleach. Really, "permanent" means just that. it's permanent.
You cant. just grin and bear it or get it cut out, next time try using a semi permanent dye
