Could your kid/teen be persuaded to wear cheap trainers..?
..if they were endorsed by Beckham or Rooney?
I saw something yesterday about an American sports star who decided it was disgraceful that a pair of Nikes should cost £120 (£2.66 to produce) and created an equally "cool" pair, complete with his signature, that will cost just £8.
Or will young people always want the expensive ones, no matter what?
Answers:
Sounds like a good idea to me. I dread when my son gets old enough to care about brand and what's "in". If they stick around long enough, he won't be in Nike's, that's for sure!
He's only 5 now, so I can get away with the cheap shoes as long as they have superheros on them (right now it's Batman).
.what is a trainer?
its not that they are expensive its just that if they are a good name, more than likely they will be expensive but its what ever everyone else has got
Don't buy the overpriced ones. If your kid won't wear (reasonable)cheapo ones - send them barefooted.
they may be only 8 quid now until they take off then the price will go up and up
u mean sex trainer or whores?
If cheap all of a sudden became cool - kids would wear them
I saw that as well I thought it a good idea but it would have to be someone very cool for mine to go with it.
Good for this guy, I wish more stars would come forward and do this, almost certainly I would think that if they were endorsed by the likes of Becks then yes they would wear them.
My teenager would wear anything that he thought was cool. he certainly doesn't whine about getting Nike Shox because of the quality. If everyone else is dying to have these shoes, he'll want them as well.
It's the fashion industry that makes the price high and people will buy these trainers at this ridiculous price just to be fashionable.
Brand named trainers are no better than cheap ones which last longer!! My kids get what they are given - if they want the expensive one's then they can save up and pay for them!
Parents should refuse to buy them and insist their kids wear what is bought them. If the little darlings want to expensive clobber they buy it themselves with their own money. A refusal to give in to demanding kids and a life lesson for the wee angels in one answer. Not bad huh?
Sorry, I didn't know what a trainer was, either. Kids want to wear what's popular whether it's expensive or not. If a popular celebrity were to endorse a cheaper product, then kids would probably flock to it regardless of the price.
Absolutely not, my 19 year old son would rather pay the highest price for trainers or clothes rather than buy the same ones from eg TK MAX. I have no idea where he gets his ideas but he seems to think the more he spends the better the item will be and the more street cred he will get. Needless to say he buys all his own stuff
I have 4 younger brothers aged 10 - 26. They all wear the latest gear and pay a fortune for it. Obviously the 10 and the 15 year old have my mum to buy theirs but they want to copy the older lads so she has to get them it.Me I'm not too bothered but i am the same with my lil girl aged6 she has all the lateast gear and alot of designer stuff.i suppose its a status thing and plus the stuff u pay out good money for is always better quality i think.
It's the name they want to be seen wearing at the end of the day so no, we probably won't convince our teens to wear a cheaper version, shame that.
My son is only 4 but he cannot be fooled especially about trainers.Me and my husband spend a lot of money on trainers which become small every 4-5 months. But what can you do?Kids
