Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Does it bug you sweet cheeks? I duno but i find myself doing it and i don't really know why we do it. Luckily no one sees me doing it cos i do it first thing in the morning before i leave the privacy of my house

I think it's partly because if you've got your mouth open it stretches the skin around the rest of your face, making it easier to see where to put the makeup.

Its true- alot of women do this however its quite natural.
A little test to see what I mean.
Relax your face, open your eyes wide and look up as you would to put mascara on, what you should notice is that your jaw will automatically relax and your mouth will start to open. Its just one of those things!! like looking at lights can make you sneeze.

because with your mouth closed all your cheek fat gets pushed up and then your eyes get all sqinty so you cant see your eyelashes

its because wen u put mascara on u tilt your head up. imagine yourself putting on mascara with ur head down. u dont open ur mouth now do u? if you put your head up with ur mouth open and then tilt it down, ur mouth automatically shuts itself. thts why most ppl have their mouths open wen putting on mascara, they dont even realise theyre doing it coz its an unconscious movement. thats my theory anyway.
well some poeple say its a fact but i can keep my nouth closed because i have bin taught properly how to put it on my the make up people who do my make up before i model and looking at your other answers theese ladies can keep their mouths closed! but you are right loadsa people have to open their mouths ----good look joining us!

That's a very good point. Have no idea. Tried to do it with mouth closed but not happening! It's very starnge how you do things without even thinking, then someone points it out and you can't stop thinking about it.

Because they are trying to stretch out their face as much as possible, that way the eyelashes won't hit skin.Or maybe because it's a habit. Or becuase they are secretly thinking OH!Don't Mess Up!
Lots of women do this - and I sometimes wonder why and then sometimes I catch myself doing it as well. I think it just helps open up our eyes a little more and makes it easier to apply the mascara.
I can apply my mascara with my mouth shut. The reason for opening your mouth is to allow the muscle in your eyes to widen to make it easier to apply mascara, but I find that doesnt work for me! open or closed, ican do it
