Why do toiletries have aqua in the ingredients, not water?
Answers:
I have a feeling it's to do with using the "official" or chemical name for a product.
I'm a languages teacher and I still don't understand most product labels, surely they would be much better in plain English?
Or perhaps most of us wouldn't put most of the stuff on their bodies if we actually knew what rubbish went into them?! That's why I use REN - they give you the English too and don't use petrochemicals or sulphates in their products.
aqua means water
it sounds cooler
bacause it sounds better, same as these drinks companies saying h2o rather than water.
it sounds better.
Because aqua is more expensive than water.
aqua is water, shower gel makers say aqua so that you don't feel like your being ripped off for buying predominantly water which is coloured and scented.
because people buy rubbish and believe anything.
I wondered this, too. I think 'water' sounds so un-medical and not classy enough to go with all the long names that mean nothing, so they use the latin name - possibly to imply that it's not just any old water out of the tap but specially purified and expensive so that when you pay so much for the stuff you don't see that it's mostly one of the cheapest commodities there is.
EU directive.
Blame Brussels and the politicians that kow-tow to this unelected bunch of dictatorial one-world fascists.
They couldn't charge you as much if they called it water,it's a trick - like genuine faux leather - faux is french for ' false '- all just trick's to con you out of money by giving it a better sounding name.
Aqua is just the scientific name for water, in the same manner that plants are given scientific names. Therefore, in any language, aqua means water, so anybody can be aware of what is in the product.
Because their trying to be fancy. XOXO
to try and pretend theyre not bulking out their products with water :p
They use the scientififc name for everything. Like a word that looked like this: whithebcksyhdkhyghjklmin, could mean honey (as in the food).
because aqua is better
