What is the best kind of staffordshire terrier to have in a family?

I would recommend one that could do a spot of dusting, maybe a cup of tea now and again!
probably not a good idea if there are children around because they tend to get jellous. i would go for a spaniel of somthing like that instead. not as butch i will grant you but at least it wont try to eat your children.
errmm isnt thier only one breed of staffy,as in err,the staffordshire bull terrier,i therefore conclude that the best kind of staffy to have is a,err, staffy.

This breed has gotten a bad reputation, unfortionately is is undeserved. If treated well they are wonderful dogs.
These Terriers can make the most rewarding, affectionate and loyal pets. I would recommend getting a pup and begin a regime of socialisation and training from day one otherwise a dog this powerful could get you into a lot of trouble very quickly if they do not know any better they can be very headstrong and will-full and up to all sorts of no good. A well brought up Staff is a joy and is great with children and other people it is just other dogs they have a problem with but proper socialisation will overcome this.
I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and two kids. They all get on fine. My dog tends to jump up a bit but my girls are 8 and 10 so can cope with it.
Staffie's are loyal and protective and very loving.
The only problem with ours is that he doesn't like other dogs except our smooth collie.
