For a new, expensive item, mostly, unless, from experience with similar fabrics, doing otherwise had no damaging effects.
When items becomes a little older,and less dear to me, I tend to be more relaxed about how I wash them.
I usually buy stuff with the care label in mind when I check whether it is my size. Sometimes "dry cleaning" also means that the fabric is not great quality, not that it is top of the range, though it usually means "more expensive"!
Yeah usually, otherwise things tend to get ruined. I never know how to interpret the ironing ones though!

Take care of your equipment, and your equipment will be able to take care of you.
I would personally say that the 'care label' (on clothing or on anything else) should be treated as a guide, but do research to find out how to best care for said item.
I try to take care of everything in/on/around me, and would reconmend that everyone else should.
If it is new then yes, after a few washes it goes in with the rest. I also dry everything. If it can't handle it then it goes into the bin.

Just put all delicates on a delicate wash but if you really not sure then just wash by hand. I never use dry cleaners and always wash dry clean only clothes myself.
No. I don't understand them. Why do clothes have Japenese care symbols? Are these supposed to be easier to understand?
I separate colors and wash new clothes separetly. I don't bother with 'warm/hot/cold' water, though. And I iron pretty much anything.
No cant read them without my glasses on and my daughter always moans at me for not, but she can always do her own washing
