I want to start up a business in make-up basically doing make-up for people (like a make-up bar)?

The idea is to apply make-up to people before a night out, before work, at lunch times and at special occasions. I was wondering what people think about the idea, any comments or suggestions.

Sounds like a great idea. That is actually familiar to my career goal for 2008.
top idea but i think it taken they call it a beauty spa or a palour
this is a great idea. but would you be happy at starting at 5 am and not finishing till about 10 pm.

Although i am a man, I do know that the woman I go to see on a morning are up from 6 doing there make-up. My first appointment is at 8 am.

Think about it.
Sounds good. If you could be mobile (e.g. biking it round the city) you could probably make a fortune out of office workers in need of a quick make-up job before an important dinner or something. And right befoe Christmas you could be raking it in as folk will very often go straight from work to their Christmas do.
it's a great idea. it's a saturated market where i live, but if you enjoy it, go for it!! i think it'd be so much fun.. more interesting than my tax job.
Sounds like a great idea to me. You should think about whether or not you want to be mobile. You could also serve drinks if you are going to be in a shop.
Its a great idea..just a few things to think of:
a) you need to be licensed to be able to do makeup
b) really look at a good location that is central to people who you want to appeal to
c)if you want to focus on bar, you might want to have a juice bar.or booze bar there too.

Good luck!
Business is tough. Make a thorough plan of a worst case scenario then expect things to be twice that hard to begin with. You have to take the risk because the rewards are worth it but i know from running my own business that its damn hard and most small businesses close within 6 months of opening.

So to avoid it do lots of research, go and visit every other service similar to the one you want to start. if there arent any similar ones then ask yourself why. is it cos nobody wants it or that nobodys thought of it? Go out and ask people, lots of them. Ask hundreds, do surveys. If you've hit upon something people want then spring into action asap to stop copycats creeping in.

Get a website no matter how small the business. if you dont have a website you dont exist or wont exist.
its a good idea, but be aware of hidden costs.. insurance and the like, and if you going to be mobile travel costs, and if your not rent and rates of a premise.. I thinks a great idea - good luck with it.
mobile would definitley be the way to go in a city - quick fix makeovers and stuff - a kind of image smart repair -just think virtually no overheads good luck
I think it's a great idea. Also, why not sell Mary Kay Cosmetics with this service like I do, you can go a very long way. I'd love to tell you more if you want to know.
I think it is a great idea. You should check your State laws to see what applies to this type of business as far as licensing and hygiene requirements. Most States have this sort of business information and licensing information on line.
I'm not sure their is a niche for this kind of thing. It will work for Special Occasions as their is always someone who wants a Make over. You could specialise in Wedding Make up, as they are thin on the ground.

All the best with it.
A great idea. Check with your state and find out if you need a licence for that. You may need a Cosmetology licence or at least a nail licence. I say go for it!
i think its a great idea. you could make alot of money on it. and make a portfolio so people an maybe choose an exact make-up style that they want and you could maybe get together with some make-up companies and sell a few of their products if you advertise the products you use. anyway. something likke that i mean.i wish you all my luck and one day i hope u can do my make-up. he he xxx lol
You need proper training first in order to learn about different types of make up for different types of skin. Face/eye/nose shapes. You need to learn which colours suit which complexions and hair colours. How to conceal scars, acne, psoriasis and spots . All about allergies. Hygiene. You will also need lots of money for your start up and equipment costs. And you will need Insurance. If you are not prepared to do the above then I think you should forget it because you only 'get out' what you 'put in'.
i think that's a great idea. all my mates come to my house for me to do there makeup i should start charging me self.
I think thats a great idea, I think I might steal it!! Just playing
wow that sounds really exciting good luck!
Love it!! Can I have a job?
