Why does our hair keep growing when the rest of the body doesnt?

the skin still grows, but after puberty brought on by hormones, the body stops growing.
rest of your body does keep growing, however you skin sloughs off itself and you still need to cut your finger/toe nails.

Due to the nature of hair it is constantly falling out so in order for you to keep looking good it needs to replace itself, to do this it grows, and that is why your hair continues to grow even though your body doesn't.
If bones didn't stop growing i'd imagine we'd all look a bit different.

your ears and nose also continue to grow, obviously not at the same rate as the hair.we would all look really weird if they did. Hair constantly is falling out, a new growth takes over. there are three stages to the hair growth cycle.This is why hair grows back at different rates.
I forget where i heard it but apparently your hair are "dead" folicles that have combined. Which i think is why people go bald cuz the hair folicles stop growing.
