When and where did tights (or pantyhose USA) first appear.?

Pantyhose came about in the 60's because of mini skirts. Stockings required garter belts or these little things that hooked the tops onto the legs of a girdle . And the tops of stockings were so low they showed below the hem of a mini skirt. So some genius (or sadist!) invented pantyhose.
I think you'll find something like tights, called 'hosen' have been around since the fourteen hundreds. That's a conservative estimate.

I always beleived that tights were invented in 1951.
Cant remember where but I did read it in something like vogue magazine.
I think they first appeared in England around 1966-1969, I can remember my older sister getting some as a present.

It was actually around the time of the Dinosuars.Well they still had to make a living.They used to knock them out cheap to passing dinosaurs who had shapely legs and wanted to spice up they're love life with Mr dinosaur back home.
