In an interview for an admin job, how would i answer this question? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
I went for an interview for an admin job and was asked the above question. I did not know what to say !
Answers:
I think I would have said, doing a good job and advancing my career.
"I hope to be higher up the corporate ladder, perhaps as a junior executive, learnign from a mentor before I am given a chance at a full leadership position"
That's always a good response.
"i see myself as a possitive and sucessful induvidule."
That is what you need to ask yourself! A good answer would have been working for a great company in an admin job or as a manager of the department
Succeeding with this company, and learning new things.

In response to this question, you always want to say something about bettering your skills or having moved up the current career track you are on. Ambition is attractive. It shows that you will take the initiative in your current role and that you want to strive to perform well.
Remember to be specific. Talk about specific skills that you want to work on. Talk about a specific role that you would want to be promoted to.

I would answer thus:
I see myself progressing within the company to a level that is approriate to the skills I have now, and those you help me develop during that period
Thats pretty cool, I just thought of that, might sack myself and apply for a job with me

I would have said, I would like to learn more about the company/agency. And I would possibly like to advance to a higher position. I believe that i am a self-starter and have excellent qualifications and I were given the chance to learn more about your company and agency you believe you would like to advance. Tell them that you are not the type of person that likes to stay at the level you came in. You are a go getter and you want to advance and learn more. This will show not only a confident attitude but an ambitious person. Trust me, it works allt he time!
What you don't want to say is that you see yourself as a drummer in a rock band. What you want to say is that you see yourself moving up in the company a couple of levels and taking a couple of classes to help you with the added company responsibility that you anticipate coming your way.

Depends who is asking. If it's the boss, I'd say on your chair - alone! lol
moving upward in a positive company environment, that has potential for career challenges and opportunities, being committed to a company. You can also talk about any type of training or schooling you would like to take and where it will leave you in five years. Stay away from personal declarations or decisions that will impact your life five years from now, they only care about professional advancement.
I don't have plans like that and I hate questions like that at job interviews. In my experience planning far ahead like that is crazy. It'll never go like that and it's much better to be an opportunist than a planner. An opportunist will seize the best possible moment. How do I know when that moment comes? I haven't got a crystal ball.
This is a loaded question. Answer honestly and they may think your trying to get something from the company, like free training. I would go with what you think they want to hear.
You could always go with the response:
Hopefully sitting across from you at the local sports bar, as partner, going over the next big project.
Its quick, quirky, shows you have ambition for the company and its success. It also gives the interviewer a positive picture of his future.
I would say . does it look like I've got a crystal ball shoved inside my suit? I'm too good for admin and you've just made me realise I can do better. In five years time I'll be doing your job!
I didn't know exactly what to say, either when I was asked this question. I said something but I wasn't very sure if I answered appropriately. I was kind of guessing, since I have trouble envisioning myself in 5 years. I guess, my answer was not or directly related to the job that I applied for.
It's like I'm applying for a job now, but in 5 years I'll probably in another place.
Hopefully, sitting on a beach somewhere never having to worry about work again, having won the quadruple rollover lottery. But more realistically, having more responsibility, possibly heading up my own team/department etc..
