Thinking of heading to work in Doha Qatar on a gas job.Whats Qatar like.

Coincidence or what? I am offshore Qatar right now, working for Maersk Oil. There are also Rasgas, Qatar Gas and Qatar Petroleum operating out here.
Qatar is OK, nothing like as civilised as Dubai, the roads are pretty rough and traffic in Doha is murder at rush hour. They are host to the Asian Games in December so do not even try to get a hotel room whilst the games are on. Plenty of modern buildings and it is safe to walk around in town. No problems in that respect. Helicopter are by Glf helicopters and have a good safety record. Plenty of ex-patriates out here.
In the summer it is incredibly hot, but this time of year it is pleasant - about 34 degrees.

Qatar is really good place to work and live. Especially if you are working in an International Oil & gas company. They provide all facilities with good salary. You can save quiet a bit as there are no much ways to spend your money.
There are many socio cultural organizations. People are nice a friendly. Most of the people in the shops and offices speak English.
Only is the weather is very hot during 6 months in a year.

Liquor is not available in the open market. you need to get a permit and drink from home or parties.. Liquor is served in star hotels only.
