I know several guys who have declared bankruptcy.
Celebrate!! I know they did and they're much happier now :-)
You should do neither. You should learn from your mistakes. Spend less than you earn. Don't use credit to buy anything that will be gone before the bill comes (gas, food, cocktails). Don't use credit for anything other than emergencies.
Go out and have a nice dinner (paid for with actual money) and take a deep breath, waving goodbye to the chapter in your life that includes being up to your eyeballs in debt. Tomorrow, and thereafter, live within your means.
Yes, celebrate not being able to get any good credit for the next 7 years because you have a bankruptcy on your credit report. I know you can still get credit but your rates will be astronomical. So congrats to you!! Go celebrate and have a good time :-)
being declared bankript i don't see as something to celebrate. i can see your point that al debts are written off but i am sure that your solicitor wil have informed you that this wil count against you for the next 10 years of your life. you will not be able to obtain credit for anything, this incudes a mortgage should you want one, youmay be refused certain services and some people may look down on you. you would also struggle if you ever wanted to work for yourself as you would not be able to be a company director.
i am sure that this was a last alternative for you and i wish you al the best for the future but i certainly wouldnt celebrate.
Celebrate - it's the last time you'll be able to for a year - after that your bankruptcy agreement will track every penny you have and you'll have none spare for anything but essentials.
And ignore the naysayers you are doing the right thing and you'll feel much better for it.
