Given the chance should I ask to be paid in Pounds or Euro?

I am a British taxpayer, currently living in Ireland, I have not worked while I've been here and will be working for an Irish company in the UK. Should I register in Ireland for tax or continue paying tax in the UK? I won't be staying in Ireland long term. Any tips on tax "avoidance" welcome.

Answers:
IT all depends on where you intend spending the bulk of your earnings. If it is in Ireland, then you are better off getting paid in Euros to avoid convertion charges, however if it is in the UK, then pounds will be better and cheaper to handle. Since you say you will be working in the UK and you don't intend to stay in Ireland for too long, I think the latter makes better sense. Earn in Pound Sterling, Pay tax in Pounds and spend more in Pounds. It's a pity, it's hard to avoid income tax.
euros, much more feasable
The pound is worth more than the euro
seriously, I dont know. Why are you asking me?
I thought that Brits earning income outside the country are not taxed at all. If that's true, take the currency that is most useful to you.
But pounds are the best and easier to figure out
At the moment the pound is strong - go for pounds. 3 years ago I would have said nEuro but the pound is better on exchange rates than it has been in ages.
. . . try posting fliers in phone-booths and just take the cash . . .
The £ is officially the best and strongest currency in the world at the moment. The euro is board game money.
Whichever suits you, Pounds stirling may seem better, but if you want figures in your bank balance take euros. It is the same value no matter which. to play safe study the currency marklets.
It depends where you think you'll be spending it. Pick that currency - then they'll pay the transaction charges for FX .or maybe they'll just give you pounds if that's the place you earnt it.
