What takes more skill as a job? A doctor or a vet?
I'd say a vet, interested to hear opinions though.
Answers:
I'd say a vet, but then I'm biased because I'm training as one.
At least doctors only have to deal with one set of anatomy, physiology, etc., while we have a nice variety to come to grips with.
I suppose it could be argued that a doctor would have a higher skill level in a given area (more human specialists around than veterinary specialists, although that's changing to some extent.
But.a vet is a general practitioner, and internal medicine physician, a surgeon, an anaesthetist, a nutritionist, a dentist, an ophthalmologist, a dermatologist.the list goes on!
Vets all the way.though I have to say that this vets being able to treat humans business is news to me. (would advise some people to check their facts on that one!!)
Vet. Doctors only have one species to learn.
a vet.you have to know details about many different animals.and also, people are less apt to get help right away for their sick pet (so they let the pet get sicker before bringing them in, or whine about high prices for medication when they wouldn't whine if it was their child getting the meds). plus, most vets see at least a few emergencies per week, as opposed to like a family doctor, who wouldn't see hardly any emergencies.
Same, Its just your respected more as a doctor because you are working to save somebody of the same species as your self.
Vet, simply because of the different species you deal with. Doctors specialise part way thru' their training on a particular area of medicine on one species of animal.
Plus Vet's need to know about anaesthesia aswell as surgery.
A vet, people can tell you whats wrong, animals can't
Vet! They also determine areas and forms of malfunction without being able to verbally communicate in english. (the animals don't communciate in english I meant . . . ).
I'd say a Vet too because people usually can at least tell you what is bothering them or at least give you their symptoms but, you pretty much have to be an animal whisperer to find out about an animals problems if they aren't obvious.
A vet cos the patient can't tell them what's wrong
I would say a vet as a doctor only has to learn about one animal (humans).
id def say vet. think about how many different animals there are just in people homes. that doesnt even include zoos or wilderness.
..doctors can get sued for more though i guess. and you can't just euthanize a patient if youre a doc.
id still say vet.
I would say a vet mainly because animals cannot talk
A Vet is more skilled and did longer and more intricate training, a vet can also treat a human, but a Doctor cant treat an Animal.
A vet
I would say a vet - their patients can't tell them what their symptoms are!
They both have equal skills in their own fields, but as vets have to learn about all species they are allowed to operate on humans but a doctor is not allowed to operate on animals.
