How do I get into banking/stock brokering?

Do i need a specific degree? I have a degree but fancy a career change. I am in the UK. can anyone help?

Answers:
Try frequenting places where people already inside the industry meet.

Pubs, bars, health clubs around the City and Canary Wharf are good choices.

It is really who you know, and those friendships go normally back to university. The start of the chain is with relatives of people well placed in the industry already.

A boys club which is very difficult to break in.

As for sending your CV to the companies, forget it. Yo may want to try the agencies that place people there, but most of those people are head hunted once they have a successful track record.
Send your CV to a bank/stock broker firm detailing why you want to work for them.
You don't. It's an old boys club.

Try playing for Harlequins. They all have cushy 6 figure jobs in the city with no qualifications.
I work in financial recruitment, and you will need some internships. It could be pretty hard depending on how long ago you graduated. Other options are if you know anyone in that industry or applying directly for positions that will get your foot in the door.
Not knowing your background but it does sound like a real challenge. You could try and get a tour of one of the brokerages and then point blank ask one of the traders how to get in and if they know any one hiring.

Good luck..
Much of the recruitment in the City happens through recruitment agents, so they are probably the best people to approach. Use Google to find a few and send them your cv or, better still, apply for one of their advertised jobs for which you're suitable.

Good Luck!
