How hard is it to get in to the royal parachute regiment?
Answers:
Not that hard so long as you can handle been shouted at and can run fast, and your dumb enough to jump out of a servicable plane that will land safely
If you are fit and willing, join the army and have a go.
Its easy, a drop in the ocean
If ya can stand been shouted at, being wet and frozen cold for hours on end, being covered in crap and mud for hours on end, can run for miles with blisters and jumping out of perfectly good aeroplanes then go back to barracks get ya self cleaned up, then do it all AGAIN the next day.HAVE A GO ! Good luck
The Parachute Regiment does not include the word "ROYAL" It is not difficult to get in tthe paras, It is the training that is difficult. You have weeks of ground training. You learn how to fall properly so you dont hurt yourself on landing because you are coming in at about 40mph. As to your parachute jumps, you have to do eight jumpds to qualify for your wings. You will do6 daylight jumps and 2 at night. You will learn the correct way to exit the aircraft, and do port exits and starboard exits as well as going out the rear of the plane. Your first 2 jumps are from a static ballon at 800 feet. from the aircraft it is usually 1000/1500 feet.Once you have exited the plane you then have to adjust your harness or if your lines are tangled you have to untwist them before you land. You will have about 45 seconds to do this. You will usually carry a main chute, a reserve chute and a weapons container. Total weight about 114lbs. The weapons container is strapped to your leg and it must be released before you hit the ground otherwise you will break a leg. Still fancy it?
1.) If you were serious, you would know the name of the British Army Regiment you were interested in: "The Parachute Regiment".
2.) You would then see a careers officer or check out the Army website for advice.
3.) Are you female? By now, you would have noted from your research that females aren't accepted in the Parachute Regiment.
4.) Is it 'hard?' If you have to ask.
Do some searches for "P Company". That's what's required. Then do some searches for "Goose Green" and "Arnhem Parachute Regiment" to name just two. Getting the message?
Places within the Parachute Regiments are hard to get, a lot of young men apply for them. To be even considered you will not just have to have a very high fitness level (able to run 1.5 miles in under 9min 30 secs), you need to pass all the selection interviews and be recommended by your Army recruiting staff..and once in, this is where the real work begins.
