Does anyone know if a job as a hotel doorman is worth while, the wages are really crap..?

Answers:
Depends which hotel, most pay min wage so you have to make it up on tips, but make sure you dont have to pool them with the rest of the staff.
This job can be very lucrative, due to the tips. In some central London Hotels the doormen actually PAY the hotel for the privilege of working there, the tips are so high.
any job is better than nothing, and who knows what the fringe benefits are, maybe they let you go thru the lost and found and take stuff, maybe you will get a couple room numbers from rich bored chicks, etc etc. At the very least you will have a reference for your next job.
could be a good number,if its a good hotel,great tips,and not really hard work,maybe worth a go.
get the right hotel and you never know who you might meet smile and watch the money from tips pour in !!
The real question should be, are you good enough to be a hotel doorman? Can you smile at people as they come and go, and let them know that you're glad they came to visit your hotel? Can you hail cabs efficiently, work with the concierge and the bellmen, learn the neighborhood (in case someone asks you for a recommendation), and do whatever it takes, to make sure that everyone you come in contact with has a better day than they would have had, if you hadn't been there?

Having a job means performing a service in exchange for money. You're asking about the money, but I'd be interested in knowing about the quality of your service.
The job is also crap. Everybody will think you are dumb and no brainer.
