What are the best career options ahead after a 10 years as IT engineer. More Technical, More Management?
Answers:
More management if you have the people skills. You can affect the outcome of an engineering project more effectively that way and be rewarded better. More and more technical skills will be out sourced so it's best to get a better understanding of project management and looking after fellow techies, having been one you should be able to communicate with them better than a none technical manager.

My friend i would suggest you go into management. My Uncle was an engineer for 20 years and went into management and still practices all of the things he learnt from his experience aswell as managing people. He tells me managing people is one of the most fulfilling things especially when a project is done.
He learns many things, aswell as life skills, he says from management, i have learnt how to manage my damn kids! lol.
Hope you find your answer - But don't listen to me, follow your heart, especially when it comes down to your career, you don't want to be doing something you don't like.
Good luck.
I think you are the only person who can answer that question. Do you want to stay in touch with the technical side? If so management might be a bit risky - although you need an understanding of the technical it will be more paperwork and people mangement, whereas if you prefer the technical side its best to stick with it and become more specialised.
In some companies (probably the smaller ones) you may be lucky and be able to do both management and technical, but from what I've seen, there are few of them that will allow you to do this to the extent you might want to.
