Has anyone any ideas for a new job - I'm quite creative, but have no qualifications other than A levels..?
I may have the chance to escape the insurance job that I've been stuck in for the past 9 years since leaving school. Has anyone any ideas on what I can do? I am quite a creative person, but a bit stuck when it comes to creatively thinking of a job I could do..?!?!?!

You seem to be able to write quite well and are probably used to being concise from working in insurance. Have you thought about becoming a writer?
Copywriters can do very well in corporate work (brochures, marketing material, advertising, etc). They can also do their own projects (novels, scripts.). And best of all, it's a skill many writers improve as they age -- you won't find yourself out of work when you're 50, in fact you'll pretty much be at your writing peak then!
You won't need a degree, but you will need a good solid course of study and also some creative/script writing workshops.
Try an Access course, its done me the world of good!!
How creative? There are many jobs available for folks with a good grounding in graphic design and knowledge of common applications. Examples include magazine designer (you'll need Quark Xpress knowledge) web designer (Photoshop and HTML/CSS knowledge very userful or something like that. I personaly would advise staying away from marketing but that's fairly difficult if you are creative - I find it like a chocolate bar - rewarding only in the short term.
There is of course writing and editing or countless other creative feilds, but all of them require you to get you skills up to scratch and don't fall into the trap of thinking you're good because your mates tell you - it does take hard work and knowledge to become good at any creative discipline. It helps if you enjoy what you're doing.
Find what are of creativity you enjoy most then start to find out what you need for that area - try and find professional points of view as there will always be a layer of creative folks who just get by and don't have the knowledge of others. For example a web designer will not use 'Frontpage' to develope sites and not have revolving logos. The best creative advice I ever received was 'avoid the arbitary' - works with anything. It means avoid small bits that you feel look good as they nearly always won't work with the total solution.
There of loads of creative jobs out there - but not all of them involve designing clothing or graphic design. I suggest that you narrow down what you're good at and concentrate on that. Make a list of likes and dislikes and avoid the negatives. Read up on a few job websites and have a look at the jobs on offer - they'll give you a good indication of what skills are required in the area you're interested in.
If you're just looking to work in a more creative environment, but are happy with an admin job, why not apply for jobs like that in marketing agencies or graphic design studios - you'll get a good grounding in the business and when a role comes up, you're in a good position to put yourself forward, as you know what it's all about!
You say you're creative, well start using your creativity in a positive way - to benefit yourself. The very best of luck!
