Can anyone help me with this business studies question that I had in an engineering test, Thanks :)?
You run an aeroplane engineering company which maintains older and new generation aeroplanes. It involves the use of chemicals which can be inflammable and its fumes can be harmful to workers, moreover the ground runs can cause noise and can be a nuisance to local residents. Explain and analyse the type of legislation which can affect the opperation of the company?
Please can someone explain or help me with this, I just dont have a gibberish?
Thanks everyone;)
Answers:
If you're running the company you don't need to deal with any of it. You just outsource the whole thing to a subcontractor in Brazil or Central America.
1. You can pay the workers far less.
2. There are no environmental laws.
3. You get a big tax advantage.
4. Local residents will keep their mouths shut.
The aim of this question is about key legislation that your company needs to comply with whilst running its business. Civil aviation Act also, Environmental Act (for the residents) , Occupational Health & safety Act (for the workers), laws pertaining to delict also could be another one. All you have to do is seek what these laws tells you & then make as if you are a lawyer advice accordingly.
Federal health hazard and toxi substance handling laws. Employee welfare laws are the two areas that can affect the company you mentioned. In the former law, the society if threatended by your operation will be the benificiaries and in the latter the employees of your company. There of course will be caveats where by a company can use preventive meassures to reduce the effects of their operations to the society and to it's own employees.
