Anybody had any luck?

has anybody managed to reclaim bank charges back off barclays? my mum is a customer off theres too and i dont want to make things bad for her. Will they tell her if i try to claim my charges back?

Answers:
Depends what the charges are for and how much. If this is the first charge you have had then why not give it a try all they can do is say no, Try the old pony " please refund my charges as a guesture of goodwill and customer relationship " They should not ell anyone else as it would be a breach of confidentuality.
no
nothing to do with your mum
No they cannot tell your mum. You are protected by the data information.
They shouldnt tell her- your account is confidential. Don't bank on getting charges back- I got £170 charges because my salary never went into my account. My work sent away all my statements with a covering letter explaining what had happened- i never heard a thing back from the bank. There are letters that you can send to the bank stating that it is illegal for them to charge you the amount that they do- they tend to work.
If they have charged you incorrectly (ie against their own operating procedures) they will pay you back. If they have charged you unfairly (which is very subjective) they will pay you back depending upon the argument you raise and the value they place on you as a customer eg if you regularly deposit £2,000 and one day the deposit goes in a day late which leaves you1p overdrawn for a day, a routine letter will be posted out to you charging you for the overdraft and for the letter. Probably a bill in the region of £30.00. If you rung them up and explained the situation the charge would be dropped.
If, however, you are regularly over any agreed overdraft limit and have irregular unreliable amounts going into your account, the charge will stand.

Any dealings with you are purely between yourself and the bank and the bank is not able to contact anybody else regarding your account (unless it is somehow a sub-account of your mum's but I've not heard of that with Barclays).
Yeh! If u can reclaim ur mum's bank charges it will be gr8, even I had reclaimed my bank charges in India. so please try. Best of Luck. I am lucky to answer ur question.
