my employer is telling me my job no longer exists. I HAVE BEEN OFFERED a new job new contract. Do i get redundancy

Answers:
you should get a payment depending on service, check with your union rep,if you are going to be employed by the same employer they may make a payment or keep you on your present pay scale until you agree to forgo the payment, if no agreement exists with your employer try to make a agreement, on a full redundancy package you would be covered by law, if you have not got a union try contacting a suitable one on the issue..
How long have you been employed? I'm no expert, but under UK law I believe the minimum is a week's pay for every year over the first two that you have had your job (more at the employers discretion).
In UK. If the contract is with a new employer then, yes, you get the redundancy; it is severance from the old employer.
You have to check your contract of employment. You will be entitled to redundancy if you have been employed continuously for more than two years, but it ain't much. May say otherwise in your contract.
You need to ask advice.

Go to your trades union if you have one. Alternatively, go to a solicitor. You can get free advice from a Citizens Advice Bureau in the United Kingdom; but in this case I suspect they will refer you to a solicitor.

Depending upon how long you have been working, the employer cannot just tell you the job no longer exists. You have to be given notice. This is an issue as well as the financial implications of the new job.

You need to be sure of your rights BEFORE you start on the new job.
You should do if you have been there more than 12 months.
Depends how long you have been at your present job. If you are in the UK and have been employed 2years or more you are entitled to redundancy. Go to citizens advice they will help you for free or if there is a union ask them The citizens advice will tell you a solicitor who will give you 30 mins free advice.
Length of time employed etc are as described by other answers. The key info is that if your new employer is taking over the same company you are currently employed by then you may not necessarily be made redundant but transfered to the new business under a Transfer of Undertaking, however this can only be done with your agreement. All terms and conditions on your contract of employment should remain unchanged for one year from the time of the takeover.
If you are offered a new job new contract with basically the same company under new ownership then you are entitled to your redundancy severance accrued during that employment however your time served will start from fresh on acceptance of the new job.
I hope this will be of help feel free to contact me if you need more information
