Sorry, but the NHS is not a charity, it is a fund UK citizens pay in to, in order to get medical help when they need it. That is why people should always buy travel insurance - it's too late to complain about the cost now.
and..
he took the risk, he lost the gamble.
WE all pay the NHS in tax (those of us who are have a job).
He should have got insurance then!
I am sorry he was so poorly, but think it is quite fair that he is having to pay - I would have to pay if I were sick abroad with no insurance.
That after all is what insurance is for
That'll be tuff tittie then!
Maybe he could sell one of his kidneys to them as a down payment?
That's why sensible people take out travel insurance. He took a risk not buying any. Harsh reality is that now he has to face the consequence of his actions.
Despite what everyone thinks the NHS is not a free service, it is actually a pre-paid service for the people in the country that contribute through the taxes that they pay.
Travel insurance is widely available to deal with these eventualities. Your father-in-law gambled.... lost. These things happen.
Sorry
Be grateful he was treated at all - in other countries - no money or insurance papers - no treatment.
'Difficulty to pay it back.' means you are struggling, not can't. There are no fairy godmother's out there to offer 'financial help' when we are struggling. Make the effort - you benefitted from the treatment the rest of us paid for through our taxes.
