you can ask to have a friend accompany you to this interview. likleyhood is your examiner will not speak english, and wont pay any attention to you, or your problems, hes a letter writer in the employ of the aggrived party.your employer.
if your GP signs you off, he must give reasons for finding you unfit for work, and another doctor cannot overturn your GP's decision. he can write nad ask for clarification. but nothing more.
and you must not refuse the examination, they can sack you if you do. Just go along, take a friend, and tel them to go pish into the wind. its a work test..can you , can't you. how do you feel.
the DSS is on your side, and if he sacks you, the law will be on your side.
I had An OHA back in april as I was off sick for several months with depression. My line manager was present, although I could ask her to leave if I wanted.
It was conducted by a nurse who had no idea what depression was like and was very patronising. He was offensive and basically told me to pull my socks up. I was also told that if I didn't come back in 2 weeks there would not be a job for me. I was so upset by it that I handed my notice in with immediate effect the next day.
If you are a member of a union, I would ask if you could have someone to go in with you, or maybe ask a friend or family member to go in. Most of the time the assessments are only to cover their backs so you can't come back and say it was there fault you were ill.
Good luck, and I hope you get better soon
Don`t worry about this ,I had to go and I went to an independent doctor ,He was very nice ,I wouldn`t refuse if `I were you .
There is nothing to worry about ,just a few questions no examinations ,well in my instance there wasn`t ,
Just tell him how you feel and what you have been through and everything will be fine ,hope your feeling better now
