Do u think its good for a checkout operator to say hello, pack bags and say good bye?
Answers:
yes i do think they need to be polite!!
i love it when the person on the checkouts makes converstaion with me. i can pack my own bags. as long as you dont over charge its great!
Of course, common courtesy never hurt anyone
Most definitely , shoppers will come back again if your are pleasant with them , and especially if you help them pack .
I don't think politeness and courtesy are ever out of style. And such initiative might even get you noticed for a better job.
and what would you say sitting there day in day out seeing all those weird looking strangers moaning about the queues and everything else
A greeting/goodbye is simple good manners.
Packing is nice if you are the person being served .. but is annoying if you are in the queue as service takes longer.
yes, anytime I can hear a nice hello and goodbye from a retailer, it makes the whole transaction more pleasant! Geez, I hate grocery shopping!
yes its common courtesy. To great some properly and use the correct conversation endear.
Its better than them saying u stink lol
Sure why not ? This will make you a better person and your line will always be full ! I rather go to a cashiers line where they say "Hallo" and smile at you and maybe bag the items for you .
It kind of seems impersonal but sometimes i'm not in the mood for chit chat although if a checlout operator does make an effort then so do I.
Why not, its fine to say hello and good bye. As for packing bags, I profer to do that myself
yes and to chat a little bit as well but not to much.
Yes, no, yes.
I hate them packing my bags. Some mangle the bread. Or make the bags so heavy that they can barely be lifted.
I THINK THAT IT'S WONDERFUL, AND IF THEY KNOW THE NAME OF THE PERSON AS THEY ARE SAYING GOODBYE THAT IS GREAT ALSO.MANNERS ARE THE MARK OF A RESPECTFULL PERSON.
Of course, it costs nothing to be polite and might get the customer back into the shop if they've been treated well.
Yes! not bout packin the bags (unless its sum1 who needs help wiv it) but i hate bein ignored. a smile goes a long way!
Yes it`s really friendly, and why not.mind you I hate being called Love, darling or lover.by men or women!
There"s nothing that can replace common courtesy. If i went into a store where the attendants were pleasant and generally nice to customers i would not care if the price there was twice that of anywhere else,i would still shop there.Employees who can achieve this are worth a lot more than they are ever given credit for,and can make or break a business.
Yes - I think that is just a part of giving good customer service as long as conversation does not get in the way of the checkout operator from doing their job. The place where I do most of my grocery shopping, the cashiers at the very least say hello and ask if I found everything OK. After they bag and put my stuff back into the cart, they wish me a good day.
Yes, I like it when the checker greets me first. I prefer it when the act like they want to instead of like they have to.
Yes, but instead of saying goodbye, I'd suggest they say, "Thank you and have a nice day." Also, I would suggest that each checkout operator have a person there to bag the groceries. Cashiering is difficult being on your feet all day. A bagger will help and will also keep the lines moving faster which will keep the customers happy. The, "Have a nice day," will be the icing on the cake of a pleasant shopping visit to the store.
Chow!!
It always makes my day when the person at the checkout says hello and bye..especially when they mean it when they say it. It just shows how nice people can be when they try. Yet you can always bet that there are some who dont bother and just look as if they dont want to be there.
As for help with packing bags..this is one subject ive always laughed at..i always find that when i say i'll pack my own bags.they always scan the items much quicker as if it were a race so you can't pack in time. When you do ask for help.they either do it grudgingly.or in my experience they ignore you and you have to pack things yourself even though you asked for their help.
All in all..yes.that simple gesture could actually brighten up what could have been a very sucky day for that customer :)
even better when they pay for it, carry it to your car, drive you home and unpack it for you, make you a drink, run you a bath and then cook your dinner whilst you enjoy a nice relaxing soak in the tub! Now that's what i call a good idea!
Its good if they say hello and be polite but why do they always pack your potatos on top of your bread?? Its usually better to pack for yourself to be honest.
i used to be one and always smiled, and greeted customers, it made some peoples day as i was always polite. I didnt care if someone was waiting I went at there pace so that they didnt need help packing bags or getting flustered and squashing bread. Good manners are never lost.
Hello, goodbye is what you expect but if your not in a rush and don't mind your veg going with your powder then packing your bags is a bonus not all do it!
They should certainly say hello and goodbye and DEFINATELY NOT "Have A Nice Day".
Such an Americanism and always said automatically rather than meaning it.
They should ask if you would like your bags packed, sometimes its easier if you do it yourself.
Asdas till operators certainly always do the above. I can understand how operators can get bored doing this job and not have full flowing conversations with every customer! But simple manners should be expected.
