I have an idea. Will it work?

I want to lauch a web site called something like onepennyeach. The idea is to take a penny of every UK citizen. Then give 99 % to charity-- about 59.5 mil. Will everybody give a penny?

Answers:
the banks will charge you more than a penny per transaction if you are getting millions of transactions thats for sure.

in fact it probably costs the banks more than 1 p per transaction.

nice idea though, but even if every single person gave you a penny that would only be 600'000.

again it will probably cost you at least £5 million pounds to reach every single individual in the country with a convincing enough advert that would make them want to give you a penny.

How about charging them a £1 ? wait a minute. isn't that the national lottery ROFL

good luck seriously, be amazing if you did.

i'll give you 2 p at least!
nope, not everybody has got the internet and not everybody has got a spare penny unfortunately! ;-)
You have no way of proving to everyone that you are legit. For all we know, your just looking to make a penny off of everyone to get rich yourself!
I will.
it might.start wiht the idea
no most likly not giving people that don't know and mean people who just don't care!. seems very little but it can make a big differnce.. iw ould just let schools know about it.. it's a great idea and kids can get on it! just donate your coins/pennys for charity.. always state the charity your giving it to and to go above and beyond make a print out of the school with the most pennys and award them!
Great way to make someone so small feel so BIG!
Great idea!
may use it in the states!
Mad luv
I've got 37 Pesetas you can have
No
depends.
it's too much trouble to give a penny. How to do it? on a credit card? through the mail? never happen.
Sorry to be a skeptic here, but I do NOT believe for one minute that
the money would go "to charity", except for your own charity that is.

It sounds to me like someone else who has tried to devise another
money-making scheme to pull on an unsuspecting public.
you would need to take more than a pound off every uk citizen to raise anything like that amount. you would also need a licence to collect the money and ensure all regulations are met. it is a valiant idea but you may find people are not as supportive as you hope. maybe you should consider a career working as a fundraiser for an established charity where you will have a support structure for your worthy intentions - good luck.
You will have a hard time convincing people to give you their credit card number (can you only charge 1 penny on the credit card?). If you take cash, the additional cost of postage will defeat your only 1 penny per person idea.
LOL a regular Bill Gates in the making, sure I will give a penny if you donate to a charity of my choice. x
You'll have to register yourself as a charity
Yes! You just have to get good advertising and leverage.
..Not everyone will give a penny to you no, why should they when you are keeping 1%. That's 6 grand for doing nothing. You may have a better chance if you gave 100% to the charities or if it was £1 each. Not a bad idea though.
It may work. You need to find a way to prove that you are actually donating it to charity. I would donate 100% instead of 99%, because I personally would be more likely to donate if I didn't think that the person taking the donation was going to benefit from my hard-earned penny! If you did these things, I'm sure you would find plenty of people willing to donate such a small amount, and others may even be willing to donate a little more if it is a respectable charity.
no not everyone is going to give a penny.
however its not a bad idea and if your bored go ahead and give it a shot.
the problem is how the hell are they going to give you the penny ?
transfering you 1 cent will be a lot more hassel than 1 cent is worth.
These scams are not legal
i don't think so.as no one is free to waste (minimum) 2 minutes of typing passwords, names, and stuff for 1 penny..

and not all UK citizens are smart enough to access the net and know about your site.;)

plus, where the hell is the 1% going.:-D.don't you think that's too much from every citizen.?!
it wont be 59.5 million
the population is 59.5 million. if all gave 1p then you would raise £595,000 but only if all babies, children, sick people, old people etc donated
Well.. Consider this: who could be bothered donating even a penny when it'll likely take a good five minutes of typing and clicking? If it took a single click - sure, I would have no qualms - but it won't.

And then there's the other obvious flaw: there aren't 60 million folk in the UK who're online. And even if there were, 60 million pennies isn't £60,000,000.
Why not ask for a dollar? (Its only $0.99 more) and you'll get more money for your "charity".
You have just committed the first mistake by disclosing your idea, if you have a wonderful idea and plan to market it you should never make the idea public before you do the ground work and buy the domain name and copyright and trademark the ideas.

I have loads of ideas but only discus them with people who will be working with me and thats is after i have copywrited them first.
i will, give a penny.
