How difficult is it to join the police, in the uk?

Yes it is.there are various tests..and sometimes there is a freeze on recruitment.
If you wanted to join some of the Welsh forces..then you have to take a Welsh language test!
goto the website and find out..not that hard...but there is months of tranning....i decided not to do it as my wife was preggy and i didn wanna be away while that was going on.they took me once.and thats saying some thing!
It depends on which police force. Each area has its own force eg Merseyside Police, Cheshire, West Lothian. Some have a harder job getting recruits than others. You have to have a reasonable standard of education and you have to take other tests that show how stable a personality you are and things like that. You can pass everything but not get in, but then you can try again. My friend's daughter took about 5 years to get into the Cheshire Police but she did in the end and really enjoys it.
Well, if an old acquaintance of mine is anything to go by, any muppet can get in - regardless of intelligence, racist views, theological views and so on. This guy was really unhinged.
Within a year of joining, he wanted to train and join an armed unit.

Im sure there are good police men and women out there, but they just dont seem to be able to screen others.
I believe there is an initial selection process, then months of training.
i think they take any one, any size, height, or religion, the UK police force hall gone down hill since the 70's
It's easy - just commit a few crimes and they'll be round to see you for an interview! :-)
I agree, our police force is very poor. Racism is rife - all you have to do is watch that recent documentary about 6-12 months ago to see the extent of the problem.
For years the police have side stepped this issue saying it was a few rotten apples. The Lawrence enquiry however concluded that institutional racism existed. How do they react. Well they instill even further racism by saying that there must be a minimum number of people from ethnic minorities employed. (any selection based on race or colour is racism).
So if you are from an ethnic background and need a job, just go along to your local nick and they are handing out jobs like sweets.

Seems that. If you have a sense of humour and NOT had the full frontal lobotamy done before joining, they remove humour and give you the lobotamy just before graduation...:-) (Sorry Jack, Racheal, Charlotte, Mikey.. these are police friends of mine!)
