Answers:
UK, Tax year ending 5, Apr. 2007

Gross pay... £18,000
Tax-free allowance. 5,035
-------------
Taxable...= 12,965

Inc.tax, First slice 0.1x £2150.. . 215.00
Second slice 0.22x (12,965 - 2150).= 2,379.30
--------------------
Total inc.tax ..... 2,594.30
Nat.ins ..... 1,425.16
---------------------
Total deductions... = 4019.46

Net pay 18,000 - 4019.46 = 13980..54
around 1200 a month
£1250
I would guess about £1,150 per month
It'll depend on how many persons you will be claiming. And after social security take ther chare!
Think this is all correct

Gross Pay 18,000.00
Tax free Allowances 5,035.00
Total taxable 12,965.00
Tax paid 2,594.30
National Insurance 1,425.16
Total Deductions 4,019.46

2006 Net Wage £13,980.54
£1,165.05 per month
18000/12 = 1500
1500-25% = 1275
roughly
Assuming you're single and under 60, and don't have any other income or deductions, you should take home £1,165 per month.

NB excludes student loan repayments, contributions to company pension etc
Ask your pay branch or wait for your first pay slip.
well let's see
there's 12 months in a year and you're expecting 18,000 in one year so start by dividing 18,000 by 12
to figure tax you will need to refer to your state tax regulations. the feds aren't going to wipe you clean like they will when you make twice as much.
as for NI, i have no idea what that is
i'll take a stab in a dimly lit room and guess you'll end up less about $140 per month in income due to medical fees (if full-time status) and tax
I take it your new jobs not in accounts then??
it will be about 1200 quid.
it depends on your tax code. but i would guess some were between £1100 and 1200 a month.
