It depends as accounts assistant can range from a starting postion in a company to senior roles. It would be useful to have some accounts qualifications, eg accounting techicians, OCR book-keeping, an alevel in business, you don't need to have an degree.

General computer skills esp on spreadsheets, admin experience, good communication, and working knowledge of computerised accounts like sage and payroll.

I'm an accounts assistant and this is my first proper job. I didn't have any experience but i done business alevels, Ocr word processing and level 1 bookkeeping and level 3 payroll. And also i was studying for the accounting technicans membership.

I look after the purchase legder and do some secretarial work, eg typing letter etc.

Hope this helps! x
I am not sure there is such an occupation but am going to try.

Employers prefer workers who are computer-literate; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is especially valuable.

associate degree in business or accounting is required for some positions.
