How long does it take for the Halifax Bank?
to clear a cheque, without having to pay to have it cleared within 24 hours
Answers:
3 working days on a current account, 7 working days on a cardcash account
Normall 3 working days, but bargain on 5.
Five working days including the day you pay it in
I recently paid a cheque in on a Tuesday morning and it wasn't cleared untill Thursday of the following week. This is not what they advertise, but it is "the norm"
Depends on where it is banked, they say 5 working days. If it is banked in Southampton, it has to get all the way up to halifax before the funds are 'cleared'. When you pay it in at the bank, the funds will go into your account uncleared. if you spend this money and the cheque bounces, you can be done for theft, as this money is not yours. Also, depends on how busy the staff are that actually pay the money in. This time of year, it is usually slightly longer due to staff holidays etc.
Hope this is of help.
Ask at the branc of the bank.
they can clear it in 3 working days but it can still 'bounce' up to 7 working days after paying in so dont draw on it unless you are sure it wont bounce later.
