i would guess in that trade there are a lot of craftsmen, they may go for practical questions about tools how to look after them.types of wood and the characteristic's and where they come from..types of joints eg dovetail..and also the modern uses of reconstituted wood .mdf.hdf..some of these are in the forefront of an emerging building
technology..historically wood has been used for thousands of years.any help?

its said that furniture is better made now than ever as the science of the material is understood, and production controls are so much more consistent
They will want to know how reliable you are, because they don't want to waste time on someone who wont turn up. They will want to see signs that joinery is interesting to you. If you have had any experience or family in the trade or similar trades that will be of interest too.
Any previous experience or knowledge of woodworking - even if it is what the various tools are called or types of joints etc well be very helpful. You should show that you have given it a go already even if informally and that the apprenticeship is the best way to get skills in something that interests you.
You will need to convince them that this is what you want, that you will stick at it and will give it your best shot. Being part of a team and working with others is essential also so you will have to show you can do this too. Anything less and they are bound to want someone else. Good Luck
