Professional c.v.'s?

has anyone had their c.v written by a proffesional company ?
was it worth spending the money to get it done, were you pleased with the results and did you bennifit by getting the perfect job.

Answers:
I've never had it done, but I would dare say that you would "BENEFIT" from having someone else do it for you.

Cheers.
Well a neighbour of mine showed me her professional CV and I wasn't impressed! I have learnt the 'perfect' CV shouldn't go on forever as employers only SCAN a CV so therefore information should jump out at them but this ladies CV had so much information contained in paragraphs I was shocked a professional would do that . It was too long.

Generally, BULLET point the points you want to make. This is my layout:

1. PERSONAL INFO: Name, address, telephone number, email address etc

2. EDUCATION:Starting from your earliest institution through to the most recent stating qualifications achieved (you don't have to include your grades if you don't want to, that's what my friend taught me, she works in HR and said that 'BA Hons' in . is enough)

3. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Stating what you did and responsibilities etc. This is where I bullet point . 'Assisted in .' 'Researched .'

4. REFERENCES: List your refs and their contact details (make sure your refs are on notice that you intend to use them, some people just list refs without asking for their consents first - not a good move!)

This is just a simple illustration but generally, don't harp on too much and get your points down in a digestible form.

You could get a pro to do it but I think you're looking at about £200 (?) maybe worth it for a one off and just use it as a template for the future but I am too cheap to do that!
Hi,

I think £200 is a bit dear for a professional cv. Although some people may argue otherwise. I have helped a number of people with their cvs, application forms and job hunting. I have had so much positive feedback that I am currently setting up my own business. To see if I was the 'bees knees' I got my cv assessed and was please to find out that after some minor alterations I did a good job. I can write you one for £50.

Let me know if you are interested.
