What are some of the best banks in United States and United Kingdom that have a branch in Germany?

I'm going to travel to Germany and would like to open a bank account over there. I prefer to work with a American or British bank because I feel more comfortable working with an English speaking bank.

What are some good banks that are mainly based in US or UK and also have a branch in Germany? (like HSBC)

Answers:
The large UK & US banks have branches in Germany, but you'll find that - obviously - they employ German staff there who speak German. Also, there aren't that many branches. You'd have to be in one of the big cities to make use of them.

If you're coming from the US your best bet is probably Citi. They have a couple of branches in central London and a few in cities across Europe. HSBC is a possibility, but slow, inefficient and irritating. They get confused if you're registered with another branch in London, so god knows what sort of service you'll get if you visit a branch in another country.

If you're only going for a short period why don't you just take a credit card and some travellers cheques? Alternatively, English is widely spoken in Germany. I know you would prefer an English speaking bank but if you could bear to go into a Deutche Bank or Dresdner branch you'd get a much more efficient service (account held in the same country) and you copuld be confident that where ever you go in Germany there will be a branch nearby.
City Bank is the biggest bank in the world because of the American Market. I think the next biggest is HSBC. That doesn't mean they are the best though and you should really find out what the different banks can offer and if they have branches in the part of Germany you will be staying. ie Berlin and not Frankfurt etc.
HSBC is worldwide. Pop into your local branch for advice.
HSBC are everywhere.
