Why is it hard for my 17 year old to get a part time job?
my daughter has several gcse passes most 'A', she is in 6th form college, she tried so many times, shops to supermarkets so she can saved up to go to uni, but no one wants her, no interviews, nothing, her classmates with worse results all seem to get jobs easily, what is the problem? She is fit, intelligent, and willing to work.Any advice?

I had 2 office cleaning jobs in the evening whilst I did my A levels. OK it wasn't the most glamourous work but I only had to work 4.30pm to 7.30pm which fitted in perfectly with my timetable at college. I earnt about £100 a week from it. She also ought to consider working part time through uni as well. I worked 25 hours a week at an estate agents throughout my degree. A full time degree only requires about 18 hours of class time a week. If she can manage doing both it will make her look fantastic compared to other graduates going for graduate jobs when she finishes. It certainly worked a treat for me!

maybe she doesn't want to work. Or it could be her body language. Body language says alot about a person.
why not try pole dancing clubs they always require staff, good pay as well!
for ur 17 year old,
·Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. Many businesses hesitate to employ minors because of the legal restrictions on working hours and documentation required.
A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys.
In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. ANYONE from ANYWHERE in world can join!

It sounds like she's over qualified for the jobs she's been applying. My suggestion is that she either lowers her qualifications a bit (like don't mention everything on her resume).OR apply for higher level jobs. Instead of shops/supermarket, try some junior clerical positions such as receptionist, data entry clerk, general office duties, etc. I believe that would be more fit according to her qualificiations. Some employers are hesitant to hire employees who are over qualified, because later on they could request for a raise, and in a lot of circumstances there is a maximum wage limit for certain positions. Anyway, I hope this helps. You daughter just has to keep trying and tossing out resumes. Eventually she will get a reply. This happened to me as well. Best of luck to your daughter!
Are you sure she isn't setting her sights too low? Its a shame but employers in the fields you mentioned don't always want the A grade student because they know that she will definitely move on and will probably get bored and frustrated. Tell her to keep trying and it will come together for her.
Out of the many job site on the Internet I can recommend this one linked below. She can enter as little or as much info she likes and the area she wants to work too, my son has used this one and had good results, they sen only suitable vacancies and on a regular basis, Tell her good luck and she will get that job as our son did!
