Need to sell home do through disability, can i get equity from the property to decorate for (needs urgently)?

you can generate cash with a re-mortgage. or you can do an equity release, but as the last poster said it depends on you age etc. you can do a Home reversion scheme or a Home income plan. both of the above options would let you stay in your present home in exchange for some of your equity. the most simple way is a re-mortgage.

You can re-mortgage. Alternatively, you can "sell" your house, for a regular income, and continue to live there, but it is based on age/ life expectancy. A finance company is not going to give you a high income, if it believes you are going to live for a long time.
