I want to buy a pub? Is it hard work? what are the pro's & con's?
If someone could shed some light on this that would be great.
Answers:
Sure its hard, owning your own business is difficult. You always have to have your standards high if they drop so do the customers.
But if you have the right attitude and make people comfortable when they are their its bound to be successful.
You will however be busy on all public holidays, friday and saturday nights and wont have much of a life. But if you enjoy being with people you wont find a problem with that.
Staff- will be as good as you show them how to be. Have a fun attitude and they will be fun with the guests and enjoy coming to work.
The most important if you cant work their is to get a great manager, that will be what you want without asking them.
Good Luck. You will be living my dream if you do it. I have researched and work in so many pubs and resturants. I have the hospitality bug!
Money makes the deal, but still quality matters. It depends on what exactly you are looking at offering. If its just a pub with some music its fine. But people have become very selective and hence you might have to decide first of what you are aiming at.

its alot of fun and alot of hardwork.
Damned hard work. Letting the cleaners in at 7 am having gone to bed yourself at 1 or 2 am ? Yes 2 am, remember you need time to relax at the end of the working day. Cleaning the beer pipes and the cellar. Cleaning the car park. Keeping the gardens tidy and well maintained. Ordering all the stock..beer only keeps a few days, you must keep turning it over. Staffing levels must be spot on, otherwise your profits are down the tube. be prepared to a lot of the work yourself, it's the only way it will work. You are the centre of attraction, at all times. Even if you feel awful or are arguing with your partner, you have to smile at the customers..AT ALL TIMES. You will serve wife beaters, child abusers, layabouts and just plain nasty people, and still you have to smile. Also, you will meet a lot of nice people, who make a lot of it worthwhile. Just think about it, that's all. It's not the party that some people think. Most of the work is done before and after the pub has opened..opening is the easy bit. If, after all this , you are still keen, go for it.enjoy it and the best of luck !!
