My boss wont let me have any time off during the six weeks up until Xmas, is he being unfair?

No your boss is being reasonable. This is the busiest time for most companies and as long as the rule applies throughout it is not unfair. You have all the rest of the year to take holidays and contrary to an earlier answer holidays are to be taken at the discretion of the company and are not yours to do with as you wish. Don't forget he has a conpany to keep afloat which provides you with a job.
I had same problem, so left to go back after holidays,by then there probly no job lol

Yes, it doesn't sound very fair. If it is very busy in the company I can imagine he won't allow you to have a week's holiday or more, but a single day or two days is not too much to ask for.
It all depends on how often you take time off. When it comes down to it hes the boss. You can either except it or quit

If you are entitled to annual leave its up to you when you take it providing you give reasonable prior notice .
Business is business. He employs you and pays you to carry out your part. He is not a social worker or a philanthropist. The lead up to Christmas is often a busy time for companies and there is also the number of non working days over the holidays.
I do not suppose you would want to give up the days off over the holiday period would you?

Why would you want time off in the run up to Xmas? Xmas and New Year are the most boring/dull times to be at home.

He is only being unfair if any one else is off at this time. The other thing is it must stipulate in your contract that the company has a closed holiday period. If not then he cannot stop you. As for suing you wouldnt have a leg to stand on. So dont take that advice.
Sounds to me like you haven't been in the workforce very long. Lots of people work through the holidays and every kind of weather and other condition. Grow up and get used to it. You are supposed to be an adult who wants adult pay, so earn it.
no, you should be grateful you have xmas off, i have worked every xmas for nearly 10 years. and if it is to do your xmas shopping, what is wrong with sat and sun and after work. stop moaning.
