Take it from me, someone who had a dream but lacked the courage to follow it up. If you're young (I'm 43) and really have something you want to do, and know what it is, and have the ability to do it, then you're the luckiest person in the world and should go for it. Do it now, don't delay. The years fly by. Good luck.
I think it's easier and more efficient to just set GOALS
you can try your hardest to persue a dream, and just hope any pray it works. i have a dream to run my own card shop full of my handmade cards, but as i have difficulty selling them out of work that will never happen. so i work 8 - 5 to pay the rent etc.
i wish dream come true
You're better off pursuing (note spelling) your dream and failing than hating yourself and wondering "what if?" for the rest of your life.
If you mean can you choose what career you want and then get there just with hard work and determination? Then no, I think that is outwith the grasp of many people. There are numerous forces at work, where you live, as Weber termed 'life chances'.. and many other factors. Success can be achieved but is also to a large extent ascribed.
In many ways it is really self-obsessed to think that way too.. in Roman times people lived til 22, In middle ages til they were 33 - even in 3rd world today life itself is all that matters..they don't have the luxury of thinking 'ohw I wanna be a X,Y,Z when I 'grow up'..
In UK - you will always need at least 50% of population to service the other half.. doing things like checkout operating, waitressing etc
Yes, first turn the dream into a written goal. Then set up an action plan on how to get there with deadlines. If you do this, your goal will take on a life of its own. You won't even realize the sacrafices you are making, you'll just be working toward your goal.
Sometimes though you have to work a 9-5 to persue your dreams. Small goals help you on the road to your dream but sometimes when you get the dream, you realize you never really wanted it. You wanted the concept of the dream. Stick to goals.
I believe dreams can come true. u just have 2 set mini goals along the way that are acheivable, eventually your dream will come true.
just have faith in yourself.
If you are not achieving your dreams: you are not trying hard enough to reach your goals: and don't want them bad enough!!
You don't have to give your heart & soul to acheive your dreams: just a lot of consistency & persistency in trying, and working to achieve that which you want!!
Set yourself short, medium, and long term goals. then set out to acheive them. dont let anyone say you can't. associate with the people who have success in your area. stay away from those who would bring you down!!
AND JUST GO FOR IT!
If all you do is dream and never take any action then all you are is a dreamer. I read the book, "Behind the Golden Arches", about how Ray Kroc, at age 55, dreamed of having McDonald's Restaurants nationwide. His dream began in 1955 and in 1965 McDonald's went public and the rest is fast food franchising history.
You must be willing to risks and have the confidence that you will succeed . also know there may be some challenges along the way but never, never, never give up on your dream.
Another dreamer became very successful . after overcoming many challenges . you may know the name . Walt Disney.
There are other examples but I believe you get the point.
I say if you have a dream go for it. Nothing is worse, then looking back later in life thinking 'what if'. If you have the chance go for it, the worst that could happen is you fail, but at least then you've given it your best shot. I'm 27, and i've always wanted to go into acting, however, i've always been quiet and shy, and i've never had my parents backing. But i've now reached the point, where i've decided to myself i'm going to give it ago, otherwise, i'm going to get stuck in a job, yes it will pay the bills, but its not a job i would love to do. I say take the risk and go for it, you'll never know until you do.
You have to believe in yourself and your dream. Read this article and you will understand.
Yes it happens. First you have to find something you love to do. not just a job that you have to drag yourself every day. Next do a business plan. Know what you want and why you want that.
Cant even get a job..let alone follow dreams!!
I have a 9-5 job but also a dream.
