Why are till receipt errors always in favour of the supermarket/store, never us?

Their usual excuse is that the 'proper' price hasn't registered on the computer yet. If that was the case, why is their mistaken price always only slightly higher than the 'proper' one, never outrageously different? Why do they always blame dumb machines? Why don't they blame the real dumb culprits? Are you fed up of waiting at customer services for a refund?

Such a pain especially when you have a trolley load of shopping - no chance you'll be able to keep an eagle eye on everything that's been scanned and fat chance you'll be able to remember the advertised price of each time.
when im given a till reciept that is unreadable due to no ink, i insist on having it replaced with one that does, including refusing hand written ones. Causes havock, serves them right.
I had a till receipt error the other day, when a special didn't go through. The assistant looked at me like I was lying when I challenged him, as if I were blatantly shop lifting. But he had to eat humble pie when he checked. Waste of my bloody time though!
some times they are wrong in my favour. it really confuses the shop when you point it out to them.
because these days the customer is not king and the customer is a second class citizen in this country i mean take somerfeilds expect at somerfields to get shouted at [pack your own goods takje the goods back your self if you don't wnaty them do not expect service. the only place i would reccommend as a good shopping store is ~Waitrose or Tescos.
Because it is the responsibility of the main office to get the correct prices in the main computer before the new prices go out onto the floor. The cashier has nothing to do with that part of the pricing unless she/he put the price in by hand. You should be nice to the cashier, chances are she/he has been there most of the day on their feet and is just trying to make a living like you and I.A smile goes a long way!!
You are entitled to pay the price on the ticket, they offered it at that price you accepted that price and offered payment so they made a contract with you. Tesco'c used to be great if the price charged was incorrect to the price displayed you got the product and a refund! we cleaned up 1 weekend on a product and emptied the shelves in 3 tescos and made a bundle, the downside was though that we had to live on my wifes veggie meals!
not always.
