If you are waitingto here from a job you went for and they havent let you know when they said they would does

.. it look bad if you phone them up? They were supposed to let me know early this week, yet still havent heard anything. I phoned up yesterday and was told the hr women was out interviewing for another branch. Is bugging a bad thing? Might it work against me?

Answers:
I don't think it will work against you, unless you turn into a stalker. Leave it for today, then ring up tomorrow saying that you are very interested in the position and are enquiring when the HR manager thinks she will reach a decision. Explain that you have a number of up-coming projects and would like to clarify the situation with her. Don't sound too desparate, but your keen attitude may just be what they're looking for. Don't forget that if you haven't got the job and are looking to move into a similar role, you can always contact the HR department and ask where you were lacking and what you can do (courses, training, experience) to be more suitable. Be sure to be positive and thank them for their time; companies often hold records of applicants for a while so they may contact you if there is something else they can offer you. [But if you want to get a future job, and they recommend doing some training or gaining experience DO IT]. No matter what, make sure end with a positive note!
Nah just phone them i mean what harm can that course? none i believe
I wouldn't consider calling once bugging them. It will show interest in the job.
Calling for a follow up is not a bad thing. Just be polite and say something along the lines of, "I'm just calling to follow up and find out if there is any more information you might need from me."
I would call. If they have already made their mind up, it won't make any difference anyway. If they are still deciding, it might bring your name to the forefront of their minds and have a positive effect.
If they haven'r got back to you by the time they said, they have offered the job to someone else
phone them at the end of the day you will seem interested.
If you got the job, they would have called you by now. Keep looking and best of luck.

P.s. even if they say they will call you either way, they rarely call to say you didnt get the job, they usually send out a very impersonal letter or email. big business has no cajones my friend!
send a thank you email. thanks for the interview. i think i'd be a great fit for this position. i am very interested in joining your company. please let me know if there is anything else you need from me.

call company receptionist they usually are fine about giving out email addresses. this lets her know you want job and reminds her to tell you something without the pressure of the phone call.
I'm afraid there is no right answer. Some people might think you're a pain, others might take it as a good sign that you're really interested in them. My advice: leave it until Monday.
I am an employer, wouldnt bother me. Give them a call, tell them you are very keen to hear the good news! go for it
Hate to say this, but if they have not called you before now, it is very likely they have offered the job to someone esle. Keep looking.
Good luck.
You say that you have phoned once already this week, then my advice would be to leave it. And if you still haven't heard by say next Monday certainly ring them again.

If it is a local authority job interview you went for, they are notorious for not getting back to interviewees straight away. I think they like playing mind games with folk.

Certainly do not take it because you haven't heard that you have not been successful. There could be a perfectly good explanation as to why you have not been notified.

Good luck!
