How long does it take the halifax bldg soc to clear a cheque and can i speed it up?

it takes 6 working days

you can pay to have it expressed cleared, it costs about £12. they ring the bank its drawn on everyday to make sure the funds are available, as soon as the bank says yes then you get the cleared funds in your account, usually takes about 2-3 days when ive done it.
You can speed it up in the furture by asking the person to give you a bankers draft instead of a cheque!
Otherwise i think it is 5 working days, but some banks are 7.

Halifax are the slowest bank ever.the only way to speed it up is switch banks.Nat West are quite good xx
5 working days to clear a cheque, if you put it on fast clearance (24hrs) cost was £10.00
